Function :Alpha-agarase. Hydrolyzes agarose, agarohexaose, neoagarohexaose and porphyran. Hydrolysis of porphyran by this enzyme improves its antioxidant activity. Does not hydrolyze kappa-carrageenan, iota-carrageenen or lambda-carrageenan.
